In oil fields, it is usual to inject fluids to increase oil recovery. If there are faults connecting the reservoir with the sea floor and if the pressure of this injection is too high, oil seeps can happen. As they are caused by the production activity, we call them induced seeps.
This way, the objective of the pre-production mapping is to understand the dynamics of seepage and activity of petroleum systems close to the region producing oil. It is possible to identify structural faults that may cause induced seeps and prevent them to happen.
- Increase efficiency in oil production;
- Reduction of losses in reservoir, operational costs and operational risks;
- Reduction of environmental impacts and liabilities
